Help with VD0: Please!!!

Need help. I'm trying to install VD0: in my system. I downloaded a file
call VDOFIX that has the file handler and an addendum to the MOUNTLIST
file. I followed the instructions, I thought, to the letter, but when I
boot work bench, I run into a snag. I try to CD VD0: and it says there is
no such device. When I try to MOUNT VD0: it tells me that VD0: is already
mounted. How can this be? I'm running an A1000 with 2 megs of memory via
the Insider II board. Any tips greatly appreciated.

You will need to get the file which has asdg.vdisk.device in it. If
you don't have the driver in the DEVS: directory, then VD0: will not be
there despite what you have in the mountlist.

I have that. Sorry I didn't mention it sooner. I'm still having the same
trouble

Check your mountlist, then, to be sure you have set the HiCyl value
to an ODD number of tracks and that you haven't set it for too many tracks
than you have memory available. Try a small value of HiCyl, like 15 or 31
and see if that works. Also, if you are getting a system error that says
can't find VDISK, then you have a bad version of VD0:. Some Amigas have a
problem with the newest version of VD0:. I know I did and use an older
version.

There was a problem a while back, of a VD0: upgrade running around that
had the wrong versions of some of the supporting files in it and wouldn't
work. If I were you I would try to find an older version of VD0:, like,
from a year ago, and go with that.
Also, here are the entries from my MountList, you might try them.
VD0:
Device = asdg.vdisk.device
Unit = 1
Flags = 0

BlocksPerTrack = 16
Priority = 5

LowCycle = 0
HighCycle = 95 ;has to be an odd number btw.

Thanks, Mike. I'll bet that's the problem. I got the version from a local
bbs and I'll bet the files are messed up!
