Hellraiser (good) and Hellraiser II (blech, in my opinion) are much more
gory than Nightbreed. Nightbreed doesn't have near as much gore as those
2! The story is based on the book, "Cabal" and basically asks the
question, "What if every monster that you've ever heard of (dinosaur-like
godzillas excluded) were actually good and were wiped out by mankinds
prejudice? This story is about the last few of those creatures left and
what happens to them. It's a really good story, better than the title
allows you to perceive. The variety of creatures that you see in this film
is astounding, they must have had every make-up artist in hollywood working
on this flick! I highly recommend it! Kudos to Clive Barker (the author
and director) for bringing us a horror film with intellect – something you
rarely see in hollywood!
