Modula-2 compilers

Does anybody have any reccomendations on modula-2 compilers? I've been
using Lattice C for about 3 years, but now need modula-2 for school in the
near future. I get the impression that Benchmark is the way to go for the
money, bbbu but would like to hear other opinions (mine isn't an opinion,
just a guess). How about good books on modula-2?

The best Modula-2 book I've read is called: Modula-2, A Seafarer's Manual
and Shipyard Guide, by Edward Joyce, published by Addison-Wesley. It is
very well written, easy to understand, and even entertaining! It will give
you a solid Modula-2 foundation.
As for compilers, I'm using M2Sprint and like it very much. It's very fast
and I love the integrated environment. There's one problem though, the
rights to the program changed hands, and the support seems to be totally
gone, and the future uncertain.

There is still suport for m2Sprint, suplied by myself & the faithfull users
of m2sprint. The cost is now very competitive to Be Benchmark. Check out
the mail order prices carfully. The Bechmark package does not contain all
of the special suport libraries for IFF, simple, Arexx and others. They
are all included for one price in the M2Sprint package. The M2Sprint
package also contains source for all of the libraries, where the Benchmark
package only contains linkable object files. Though there is less visable
support from the parent company, the source allows you to more effectivly
use the package in the future.

I think you answered the wrong guy. I already own M2Sprint, and like it
very much. I was just just questionning the future of the compiler, since
other than thru your voluntary support, we haven't heard anything from the
new owners….

Sorry, Sly. Just folling the stream of information & reply to anything
that looks good. BTW I have not heard form the new owners since I talked
to Leon. They are a bit too quiet.
