Jusayt in case no one has said anything about Dpaint III, there is a FREE
upgrade to ver. 3.21. What's wrong with the previous version you ask?
FAT AGNUS! I got the Fat Agnus for my 2000 and expected to create HUGE
brushes, but then it wouldn't work! A speedy call to EA solved the
problem, the tech. rep. simply told me to send in my originals and they
would send me back the new updated version. There are also a couple of
other bug fixes/program mods made to this new version that are snappy. I
have done an animation utilizing my Fat Agnus with FANTASTIC results. If
anyone would like, I'd be happy to upload my animation, COMPACTED as much
as computerly possible.

I hope those bug fixes include keeping text from strangely dissapearing
when you move the cursor.

Is this a simple bug to ecreate? If it is/isn't could you tell me how I
can check fr it on thecurrent version. I'll let you know the results!!

I've never bothered to figure out *exactly* when it occurs but mostly it
involves this: whenever I use some different fonts and font sizes to write
text on the picture, some of the end characters on the string will
dissapear when I try to move the cursor with the mouse or I zoom in on the
string. This seems to happen mostly when the text cursor is still on the
last character I've typed, or if I'm typing into a zoom screen. It does not
seem to be dependent on whether or not I'm using attributes like Italics
and Bold, just when I use fonts other than topaz.

I missed the beginning of the thread; is there an upgrade for DPIII? I
heard of one that fixed an infrequent problem with RAM/animation, but
hadn't ordered it yet.

Hi Karl,
The latest ver. of DpaintIII is ver. 3.21. The previous version did not
work with the fat agnus chip (it wouldn't recognize agnus and still thought
that only 512k of video ram was available). Fat Agnus will allow you to
create larger cells or "brushes" as opposed to getting that "Not enough
memory" message.
Here are some other things that are included with the upgrade…..
* You can now specify in the prefs. menu whether coord. 0,0 is in the
upper or lower left corner of the screen.
* An option in the screen format section has been added to allow you to
select between NTSC and PAL display. This will allow you to view
PAL anims. on an NTSC machine and vice-versa.
* Now an ANIM FILL option has been added so that you can use the FILL
tool to fill an object in your animation with a forground color or
brush pattern (it's a really weird option that I haven't used yet,
but it looks like something that could make a BIG difference). This
means that AFTER you have created an animation, you can go to frame 1
(or whatever frame) and using the fill tool, you select the object you
wish to fill (this ALSO WORKS WITH THE ANIM BRUSH), from that point
on that object you selected will be filled with the color or brush you
chose to fill it with for each successive frame. The fact that you
can use it with an anim brush makes this option quite handy!!
* The file requestor has been updated to allow long font names.
* The APPEND option in the anim player has been removed.
* Various documentation corrections, only 3 I believe.
No word as to whether they have fixed the font problem that someone
mentioned earlier. I do know though that if you purchase DPIII today, it
is probably the latest version.

Wow, great! Do I just call 'em up?? Or do they consider it an upgrade
that I'd have to pay for (though I probably would if it were cheap)?

They said to simply send in the disks and request the upgrade to ver. 3.21,
this seems easy enough, and a nice surprise to not have a fee to pay for an
upgrade!
I suggest you contact their tech. support for the address.
