Gold Disk CG Fonts

I received my CG Fonts disk from Gold Disk today. Installation was a snap.

Paul, Installation was easy, but how does PPage work for you? With the new
fonts I had the program bomb on me for no apparent reason. How are you
holding up?

No problems here. Perhaps you have loaded too many fonts and not enough
memory?

When I was using PPage with the original 2 CG fonts, I had quite a few
gurus. In general PPage was quite fragile. I don't know if it is that way
for others or whether it was some interaction with something else that I
had active (like conman).
Now that I have a postscript printer, I don't use the CG fonts and just
output direct postscript. No more gurus at all.
For that reason and others, I enthusiastically recommend the HP IIP and PDP
postscript combo to any PPage users that don't have postscript yet.

As far as the "GURUS", I had many vists from the GURU too … So, I
called Gold Disk's Tech. Support (BTW, I have NEVER had a hard time
reaching them, I dial 3-5 times and always get them — I am in Florida)
they told me to delete the files in the CGFont:CGCache/ directory because
they apparently became corrupt. I was told that these files are
automagically created by PPAGE and they must be deleted and PPAGE would
re-create new ones. I did this and PPAGE worked perfectly!!!

I have used ProPage with my epson-clone 9 pin dot matrix and the CGFonts
with great results. I have a very recent version, so maybe they've fixed
somethings. The only problem I have with it is that it is a chip ram hog,
so I have to boot into a cli, rather than having a workbench up, or it runs
out of memory.
For the same reason, when I go to print, I change the screen resolution
back to 640×200 from interlace, otherwise it will refuse to print due to
memory limitations. (I have five megs, but only 512K chip ram)
