WHAP hang-up

When in WHAP (version 18 demo) I find the program freezes in a "Reader
Action" mode when downloading a message to me. If I am not there (as I
needn't be with an "automatic" program) it will just sit until the Bulldog
signs me off. Wasted time. Any way around this?

I've had the same problem on occasion, and believe the problem is due to
line noise. It usually happens when WHAP is sending a command to
Compuserve, the line noise garbles the command, and Compuserve responds
with a message something like "Command not recognized, Press H for Help."
The only work-around I've found for the problem so far is to log back on
to Compuserve using the interactive terminal option of WHAP in conjunction
with another terminal program (I use Access). Then go to the forum you were
on and reset the high message counter. Perhaps someone else knows a better
way.

When you get hit by line noise, that's about the only thing you can do.
I believe Ken's problem is that he's reset the prompt in some forums to
Messages ! instead of Forum !.
