Larry, Lattice said there were 2 "versions" of 5.04 sent out and that when the wrong one was used to upgrade to 5.05, the read() function you mentioned went bad. They said you should contact them to get it fixed. Also, $100 to upgrade my very old "AMIGA C" to 5.05. VISA in mail :). Also waiting on FUJITSU to see if I can get a MOD done on their M1053 SCSI to SMD controller. Maybe can get ram as separate LUN to download configs for other drives thru SCSI or easy firmware changes to free it up. Right now only supports FUJI models M2333KS, M2344KS, M2372KS with HSMD. Harry, I <blush> found the problem with Read(), with the help of Don Curtis. Seems my Open() had misplaced parens (it was part of an 'if' statement). I just spent a week in the SOuth Bay area, and noticed that Weird Stuff Warehouse had an Adaptec 5580 SCSI->SMD controller for $149. Looking at their ad in Computer Shopper, it is listed at $175. Don't know if it will do the tricj for the drives you want it to work on, but it's probably worth findng out. Oh.. and they are called 'Computer Surplus Store' in the CompShopper ad. I've dealt with them before in person, though not mail order. Strange place to visit. 🙂 -larry

Larry The OMTI 5000 series has traditionally been an OMTI commmand set typ e controller. I'm not familiar with the 5580 however. Thanks for the info. – HarryM
