I have two questions. Does anybody have any suggestions as to good books or
articles on MSDOS TSR's.
Second, are there any opinions on the various MSDOS LEX's and YACC's
available commercially? I work with FLEX and BISON, which I like but cannot
use in chargeable jobs.

for TSR stuff, get TesSeRact from CLMFOR. Saw a review on YACC stuff for
PC's a while back, but things have changed since. As I recall, QParser is
not longer available and the other one (I forget the brand) is about the
same. LALR though is updated and hotter than ever. Includes a
table-driven Lexical Analyser generator too, as I recall. Check the ad
index from recient mags for "LALR Research".

I've read that LALR is excellent. I can also recommend Mortise-Kern
Systems products (MKS.) I don't own their LEX and YACC, but their
other software is good, and the reviews of their LEX and YACC
rank them on a par with LALR's.
I read the review comparing LEXs and YACCs in the COMPLIB on CIS.
Use either word as the key and you'll get something from about 6
months or a year ago.

with MS & PC DOS 2nd edition – by Michael Hyman – Published by Management
Infomation Service.

There's a DECUS (DEC user's group or something like that) LEX floating
around here somewhere — public domain (I think). I don't recall there
being any restrictions on using it for chargeable jobs.
There used to be a YACC around too (on CLMFOR, I think — might have been
here). It turned out to be almost a direct copy of the AT&T code so it was
removed from the board.
I have no experience with any of the commercial products.
For TSR stuff download the TESS stuff from LIB 13 of CLMFOR.
