#7601 Fonts to EPS?? Message #7645
From: Steve Werner Adobe · DeskTop Publishing January 4, 1989 9:37 PM
Dale, There is a new product from Taylored Graphics called FontLiner. It will convert any Fontographer-generated font (which means all fonts on the Mac except those from Adobe and Bitstream) into an Adobe Illustrator file. The character set of the font is converted to an Illustrator graphic which can then…
#7611 Reversed TIFF Files Message #7642

I couldn't see the difference in the fax, but that's interesting to know. More and more I'm operating on the assumption that the problem is TOPS. Is there anyway you can upgrade to 2.1 and see if you still have the problem? I don't think there's any charge for the…

Oh, good. Please let me know what's going on so I can consider it myself. It was interesting that the Dest scan had trouble while the AppleScan did not. XPress also seemed not to recognize that the AppleScan was line art; it presented me with the tone controls that are…

Greetings, Does anyone know of a way to convert text from a postscript font to an EPS document? For logo design, headlines and that sort of thing. Thanks Dale Strumpell

Try asking Scott Leyes 71041,121 on this forum. I saw some stuff he wrote hereabouts that seemed real informative.

Steve, it sounds like your Settransfer idea may be the best one so far. Kathleen Tinkel found variations from one scanner to another, and I tried this afternoon, per your suggestion, to print a reversed Microtek image with Pagemaker…and had the same problem! I'm going to call Microtek tomorrow and…

I think you're right…and will be calling Microtek's tech people tomorrow! Your fax arrived ok today – thanks a million. I'm including it in a package I'm sending Fed Ex to both Quark and Microtek. We'll get this thing figured out one way or another!!

Wow! I'm so glad* somebody was able to replicate our problem!!! Now, I have to figure out why the people at Quark claim they can't make XPress duplicate my problem. Are you using TOPS, by any chance?

What scanner software is producing the TIFF files that are not inverting properly? It may not be QuarkXpress' fault. I've seen it happen a couple times too, and it was in PageMaker as well. What I believe the problem is that the scanner software is incorrectly changing the "settransfer" function,…

The DeskPaint 2.0 package from Zedcor includes a utility that does PC–>Mac TIFF conversion and vice versa. $129.95 list, but available mail order for much less.
#6835- Illus.'88 & RSG 4.0a Message #6860
From: Steve Werner Adobe · DeskTop Publishing November 24, 1988 12:27 PM
Lance, The other workaround to your problem of the Casady font not printing in the Illustrator 88 EPS graphic is to select a spaceband in the ReadySetGo text and select the GatsbyDemiBold font. The font won't print (since it's only a spaceband), but the Macintosh Print Manager will be forced…

Lance, I have heard of this problem before-fonts print correctly from a new RSG 4.0 document, but default to Courier within an EPS file from AI88. Try manually downloading the fonts before printing the RSG file. -Lori Haines
#6576 IBM, APPLE NAMES Message #6582

Grady, Your questions is probably best asked of the Sysop of the Aldus Forum. To got there, GO ALDUS. By the way, upper & lower case is preferred on Compuserve. ALL CAPS IS HARD TO READ. Thanks, and good luck. ^Steve^

WE COMPOSE PM FILES ON IBM AND OUR APPLE SERVICE BUREAU CANNOT LOCATE CERTAIN TYPEFACES. IN PARTICULAR, ERAS MEDIUM IN THE APPLE IS CALLED JUST ERAS IN IBM. CAN WE GO IN AND CHANGE OUR VERSION? AND IF SO, HOW? DO WE HAVE TO UPDAT WIN.INI? HOW MANY PLACES? ARE…

I am looking for a utility that will capture a DOS text screen and create an EPS file that supports underline and true reverse print (white on black) for reverse printed text on the screen (and shows cursor location). There is a utility from QMS call PRTSC which comes close,…

I have TOPS on my little network (Mac Plus, Mac SE, LaserWriter Plus) but it was not being used while I made the tests. (I do understand it's not entirely passive, but in any event, I was using the scanner connected to the SE and printing on the LW without…
