#BBoard colour display
Message #100295
Ive got a 386sx board installed in my A3000. Also installed a Viglen multi io board. (very nice) 5mb total ram on the bboard. Within the last 3 days or so Windows won't display in colour. I've checked PcPrefs and both video modes are disabled. In BBsetups Vga is enabled,…
Many thanks Steve for the info. Pete
Getting interesting these problems with MsDos 5 and BBoards. I recently installed a 386sx and an extra 4mb of 70ns zip. I have dh2: configured as a 32mb dos drive which has c: and d: I also used superstor which gives an effective 55mb drive. There were no problems installing…
Ron, Umm, what do you mean by an accelerator on your BB? Sounds interesting. Pete
PPage mem hog
Message #99281
Philip, Whilst the crash on quit bug seems to have been 'cured' by removing Arq PPage 4 still seems to hog memory and not let go of around 1.5mb. Is something not being de-allocated correctly? What this means in practice is that despite 6mb of ram, doing anything heavy means…
Worth a try Ron. I havn't ( hang on…bends down and picks cat up)..had any trouble since junking Arq so try it out. Pete
SetAslDim is a pd/shareware prog which allows the size of the asl requester to be sized according to a command line string.
Thanks Philip. Pete
Great news Wolf. I suppose youv'e told Jeff Walker? Pete
PPage 4 quit bug
Message #98346
Philip, Re the PPage 4 'bug' on quitting. I removed all my PD software and PPage was OK. Adding back the programs was OK until I got to SetAslDim…and then PPage crashed again. Remove Setasldim and all was OK. This may be coincidence but I shall continue to poke about…
Sean, There are several Icpug members who live generally around your way. Not necessarily close but all in Oxfordshire. I'll have to check with the boss to see if there any objections to you having their home phone numbers. Any way a summary. 3 Abingdon, 1 Aston, 1 Banbury, 1…
Yes, I got some stuff saved yesterday. Pete
ProCalc database sorts
Message #97830
Philip, Further work with ProCalc database sorts shows that withoin a defined database figures seem to sort Ok but characters don't. Sorry but just can't get Calc to sort columns. Pete
ProCalc database sorting
Message #97829
Philip, I've got a problem using ProCalc 1.05 and sorting many records within a database. The database is names and addresses, arrival days, amount of the invoice etc etc. There are 126 rows and about 14 cols. Having defined the whole sheet as a database and then, according to page…
Sean, Don't know of anyone particularly. Try phoning Cavendish in Leicester 0533 510066. They maybe able to help. Pete
🙂 no motive in mentioning Amiga Shopper, just the first one I thought of. Pete
Pstream 3.0 WILL have arexx support. Pete
Charles, Buy Amiga Shopper and look for a Digita advert. They do Accounts progs. Pete
Blaine, Deleted files are not erased from your hard disk. To erase them completely format the disk. When re-org sorts the disk it is re-arranging the blocks and block pointers in the best way possible. To read about disk structures try and get hold of an article by David Joiner.…
Barbara, PPage doesn't allow multiple assigns of fonts, so any fonts you want will have to be in cgfonts: Note. Pstream does allow fonts to accessed across various disks. A much nicer system. Pete
I had exactly the same response from Stephan nearly a year ago. Sent ho 100sk and not heard a word since despite a letter and email. Pete
Ron, Get Kelly Jordans' drivers from here abouts. This fixes the page offset problem Pete

PPage installed ok
Message #96088
Philip, Re my last message I have got PPage v4.0 re-installed BUT only by installing v3.0 first. It seems that installer etc doesn't like the script file if the installation is new but works if it is an uodate. Pete
PPage4.0 won't install
Message #96085
Philip, I've tried re-installing PPage4.0 today. No luck at all. The installer script locks up when I get to press 'Proceed' when the destination volume shows i.e. DH1: At that point zap. All stop. I've looked at the script but since I don't have docs to writing Installer script I…
Sorry if that was confusing Kelly, wasn't meant to be. As a new dos user all I was asking was if an accelerator board was effectively a fast video board all together on 1 board. Evidently it is so I'll get one of those. Pete
Paul, The original wordworth 1.0 did have problems, but then so did excellence and FC. However, major revisions have taken place with Wordworth and it is a very different beast to the original. Suggest you email Jeff Walker here 100121,465, he can fill you in on most of the details.…
Dan, To ftp files form sits do the folowing for example. 1. Via an internet link ftp wuarchive.wustl.edu You will be asked for the login prompt so type ftp At the password type your machine name For myself I would type pmiles@cix.compulink.co.uk After a load of intro stuff you end…
The last version pof enforcer I have seen is 37.28 on Fish 800 so it must be distributable. Pete

#VGA + i/o card

Talking of svga boards is an accelerator board a separate item to the svga board? If it is I'm sunk but if it's just a faster version then perhaps a decent accelerator board might work well with my new 386sx bridge board. This 'ere new board will have 5mbs of…
Back to PPage3.0
Message #95875
Philip, Sorry but the sh.. has finally hit the fan over here. I can't use PPage 4.0 anymore with the constant crashes so I have to go back to PPage 3.0. Major problem PPage 3 says all my files are corrupt, presumably those created or modified by V4.0. Would this…
Kelly, I had similar problems with several typefaces when moving from PPage 3.0 to PPage 4.0 Perhaps v4.0 is fussiere about the way ot handles font conversion as the 4 fonts that wouldn't work were converted by Fontmanager from pscript fonts. Pete
PPage 4.0 & powerpacker
Message #95715
Philip, I've been experimenting this afternoon trying to stop PPage 4 crashing. Whilst it is too early to be absolutely sure it seems that if the .exe file is not powerpacked it will not crash. To save space I normally powerpack all my apps including SuperBase, protext, proDraw and many…
Philip, Ah haa! I see I see, but what a palaver. Does this happen under the currency option I wonder? Must have a look. Pete
Philip, My Amiga is an original A3000 from June 1991 2mb of chip 4mb of pagemode and the usual 100mb hdrive. 'bout it really. I'll rmove the various pd progs I have running and see if it makes any difference. Pete
Ok Charles I'll bung 2.33 up later today Pete
Charles, Re-Org 2.33 does have a fragmentation window. Try it with a well used hdisk partition. Looks terrible. Pete
PPage weird characters
Message #95384
More problems but this time with PPage 4. I use the # sign a lot with restaurant menus. However, when exporting the menu from PPage to the editor the # sign comes out as 2 forward slashes //, but on top of each other except they arn't a / in…
ProCalc formatting
Message #95376
Philip, Another problem. Is there anyway in ProCalc to pre-determine the number of decimals and format within a sheet. For example turn Format fixed on, and Format decimals 2 and have that remembered anywhere in the sheet. I find I am for ever having to select new entries and get…
Procalc addition
Message #95375
Philip, Can you check the way procalc does its rounding when adding a column of figs. For example my business cash book adds up correctly doing it the 'hard way' with brain power and a pen 🙂 but using ProCalc gives an error of 2p. Not a lot but a…
Totally agree Charles but are you using Re-Org 2.33? I hope so as the earlier versions were buggy. I always use Re-Org to 'cleanup' my drives and it has never failed. Brilliant bit of software.
Before you consider spending loads dosh on a PaintJet have alook at the IBM Color Jetprinter PS4079. Over it's marketted by Lexmark. Some of the features include up to A3 paper, 360 X 360 dpi, Pantone colors, 4 cartridges for cmyk, std 4mb ram but can have up to 16mb,…
MsDos ProDraw better??
Message #95273
A friend of mine was at our local computer club yesterday proudly showing off his latest version of ProDraw for Msdos. Not withstanding the different platforms the program runs on what annoys me is that the manual for his ProDraw made the manual for my ProDraw (Amiga) look like something…
Richard, Wolf Fuast gets on here at least once a week. Why not email him for details about Studio. Studio is basically a print program for getting better prints from whatever printer you may have. Quite honestly the improvement in quality using this program when printing a picture is amazing.…
I suppose the Ci$ number reflects the number of people although I don't really know. The 4000 seems to be doing very well. I know several people both happy amateurs like myself and professional users who have splashed out on a 4000. Lets hope the Derby won't repeat the fiasco…
My own thoughts Richard are that UNLESS you need the greater variety of output via zillions of fonts and printing via a bureau etc etc then the extra cost of PScript isn't worthwhile. The newer types of laser printers offer very good output as you have seen and several now…
But I didn't get a fix Chris 🙂 I simply got the 'upgrade', or should it be sideways grade. Honestly I never got the quit bug in any previous version of Propage from 1.3 through to 3.0 and so when it happens with 4 I get rather miffed. I used…
Very interesting Richard. Over here in the UK if a store advertises in a paper or puts a price in a window it is regarded as an invitation to 'treat', some weird legalism. It is extremely unlikely that a british store would honour that advert.
Got to agree with all that Pat. I'm on a huge British BBS and generally it is much more waffly.
Sorry Larry, was that…can afford shoes or afford shows? 🙂 Pete
