Pete, Yes, your observation of the disk activity is more than likely due to the fact that you are using the psuedo drive. It is painfully slow and totally unsuitable for Windows work. A dedicated hard drive will solve that. Dave Cinege of EMC (he's on this forum) sells the Oak combo board for $200. It has SVGA, two serial, two parallel, game port, IDE controller, and floppy drive controller. It's a low profile board and will fit nicely into a 3000. I have two. One in my 2000 and the other for the 3000 when my second BB comes in. The only negative for the board is that the video is not the fastest, but it is adequate. I benchmarked it at about 50% slower than a Diamond Speedstar. The IDE controller will handle two drives and the floppy controller will handle any floppies from 360 to 1.44meg, 5!/4 and/or 3 1/2".
