Final Copy fonts
Message #33073
Is there a way to replace the single letter font names in Final Copy by their real names like AvantGarde, Bookman, etc.? Also why didn't you use the WB/KS 2.0 possibility to access Compugrafic font in your software? Thanks Pat.

Sony's ED-BETA
Message #14434
What are your feelings about the future of Sony's ED-BETA?? Do you think that this is something that will be forgotten or is it something still supported? The quality of that signal is something well suited for the video toaster!! Pat.

I called Readysoft every month for two years and always got the "Scheduled for… two month later" answer. So your AMAX NEWS doesn't mean very much to me! Pat – via Whap!
Don't forget that this ZOOM 9600 is not compatible with the HST 9600 or 14400 at any speed higher than 2400bps so be carefull before buying such a modem because most Amiga BBS are only HST compatible at high speed!! Pat – via Whap!

Yes, the drive is a Chinon 357A and is different from the usual 1.44MB Chinon drive for IBM compatibles machines. Pat – via Whap!
#AM-Report v1.18
Message #44481
The drive is a Chinon 357A and nobody at Commodore knows the existance of such a drive so I don't think that you will be able to get one. By the way, since I got the machine with the 2MB floppy used it mostly for Quarterback backups using the 2MB…

#AM-Report v1.18
Message #43617
Charles, could you take not of a mistake that was reported in your last AM-Report v1.18 regarding Hign Density Floppy drives: It was mentionned that the machine (A3000) that had 2MB drives was bought 8 or 9 months ago… this is not correct; the machine was bought only 3 weeks…

I agree with you… now that Commodore have their production machines with FF it is now time to start producing software that use the full resolution on screen! Pat – via Whap!
No, there is no C= part number on it… only the Chinon label. – via Whap!
I do not really like the DMI 20MB drive because it can not read or write 1 or 2MB floppies…. TTR was suppose to come out with a version that can!? Pat – via Whap!
Yep, don't worry about the mini developper conference… it was not that big; read the december issue of AMIGA USER and you will learn the same things we learned there. Regarding the Portable Amiga, the words are that the demonstration unit was ready for the show but Commodore didn't want…
Do you remember the Amiga Action Team!? I was one of them! What a nice time we had!! – via Whap!
No I don't have the replacement part # from C= parts! – via Whap!
Bad news: the Newer Technologies' Portable Amiga were not on demonstration at the WOC this weekend… the rumor is that the guy from the compagny was there but C= didn't let him come with him machine! Why!?? – via Whap!
No model number… the only thing we know is that it is a special Chinon drive (OEM) – via Whap!
Nothing special to do… only select format and it will look at your disk to see if it is a 1MB or a 2MB floppy by itself pat – via Whap!
Sorry, but there is no name or brand and the HD drive… but after a couple of phone calls we were able to find that the drive is a special Chinon drive specially manifactured for Commodore and available only from C=. We have tried a certain number of 1.44 MB…
Sorry, but I can not be that specific… how come you know these names!? – via Whap!

As a Sales Rep for Hewlett Packard, could you tell us if the new HP Deskjet C will need a different printer driver than the one already available on the workbench. If so, is there one coming soon!? Pat – via Whap!
One of the funniest thing is that our C= representatice tells us that he has a letter from the head office in Toronto telling that the A3000 tower WILL NOT come with a 2MB floppy as claimed in some early magazines reviews!!!! Pat – via Whap!
Where is your dealership located!? Here we are in Quebec city, Canada. Pat – via Whap!
Good news… today we succesfully installed a 2MB floppy at the place of the DF0: inside an Amiga 500 (under KS/WB 2.0)… we were able to boot from either a 1MB or a 2MB workbench and the systeme was able to recognize both format… good news!!! more infos to come…
You should see a "hole detector" on both side (left and right) of the drive when you remove your A3000 cover. Pat – via Whap!
One of our customer tried to install a 2MB floppy in his A500 a couple of weeks ago and came to the conclusion that it is not a limitation of the system but mostly a limitation of the I/O chips in the amiga more than a limitation of the system.…
Thanks a lot… I will try it! Pat – from Quebec City – – via Whap!
YEP! Perfectly sure… INFO reveals 1759K in FFS and 16XX in SFS! and using the shell I was able to put both WORKBENCH 1.3 and EXTRAS 1.3 on the same disk. Even Quarterback uses them as 2MB disks: 14MB backup on 7 disks. The speed isn't faster… 15k/sec read and…
When did you buy your Amiga 3000!? – via Whap!
I agree with you, but my point of you is that when a compagny comes out with a new revision of a major part in a computer il should protect at least his dealer's inventory… we are not talking about a clone here… we are talking about a computer that…
Jonathan, I would like to give you an explanation but I can't…! Why would C= not tell his A3000 customers that they can use 2MB floppies!? Pat – via Whap!
The one we used for testing is the one (16 Mhz) that we currently have in stock… we are going to check we some customers next week to see if they have to be happy or not!! 🙂 I hope they will! Pat – via Whap!

Hey! Am I the only one being able to format 2MB floppies on an amiga 3000!? Yesterday my friend put a 2MB floppy disk by mistake in his Amiga 3000 and did a format that took longer than usually… the result: 1.6MB on the disk!!! And fully utilisable!!! even with…

Rumour is that it will be in the $2000-$3000 range for the model 10… nothing confirmed yet, sorry! – via Whap!
Prices are still to come from our distributor… They will probably not be available until the first demonstration of the Model 10 at WOC in two weeks! – via Whap!
