#40288 #Value of Enforcer Message #40406
From: Vic Wagner Amiga Tech Forum · General Programming April 7, 1994 2:13 PM
Robert, I'm so fond of enforcer and mungwall that I run them ALL the time on the 3000. Amazing what programs you find that have bugs in them, not simply your own.

Shraddhan, Debugging code on the Amiga withOUT Enforcer is a waste of time. Of course, I think that "MetaScope: The Debugger" is particularly useful too .

Michael, Eet called me yesterday evening around 1730 my time. He's doing ok. We chatted politics for a while (he'd vote for me, but he doesn't live in my district…and I'm NOT in Chicago ).

Betty, It just took one phone call, they said 'oops' and fixed it in about 15 minutes. I'm a _little_ concerned in that I still get the 'checking account status' every time I log on, but I guess nothing will happen until next month on the 1st .

Carsten, Yes, Oxxi sells Amiga Client software (ACS) for the Amiga. We have 4 Amigae hooked into a Novell server here at the office. Oxxi have a section in AmigaVend, you can ask there how to purchase.

Christie, I'm not real clear on what you're doing (or trying to). If you want to write a disk which a PC can READ, yes you must format a disk for it. The simplest way is do make sure your devs/dosdrivers drawer has PC0 in it, then format pc0:

There is a Pascal for the Amiga (or there was…I have it here somewhere). I think it was HiSoft Pascal. If you only need it compiled, EMail me the source, I'll do it for you.

Arnie, re: "How much would one have to pay for the knowledge and experience of setting up and compiling one's own compiler!" I've done it (not on the Amiga) and it ain't all it's cracked up to be. Though, I wouldn't mind doing it one more time .

Mike, If you really like the Amiga OS, you might wanna pick up OS/2. It's a rather nice OS (beats the heck out of Windoze). Of course, you'll soon discover that PM (Presentation Manager) only supports 'simple refresh'.

Ayn Rand was an author/philosopher. Her most 'famous' book is "Atlas Shrugged" which was written about 35 years ago. I just finished re-reading it late last year (I'd read it the other time in 1962). It's worth reading, IMO.

Mark, I disagree that programs that could take advantage of one will run faster. On the Amiga there are math libraries which WILL take advantage of an '881 should it exist. Most Amiga programs are written like that.

I've heard of people having multiple Amigas sharing one disk on SCSI. You'll need to get details on this tho. Limit on addressable disk space…yes, current limits are 2gig files (probably 2gig disks (also).

Steve, According to the AutoDocs on BltMaskBitMapRastPort: minterm – either (ABC|ABNC|ANBC) if copy source and blit thru mask or (ANBC) if invert source and blit thru mask So, I make it 0xE0…but simpler to #include and use the equation as written.
