#4000 Accelerator Message #70389
From: GVP Tech Amiga Vendor Forum · MicroIllusions December 15, 1993 9:01 AM
As of this tine, there is no CISC CPU beyond the 68040 that can be used in an Amiga. The 68060 is not available yet and RISC is not an option until the OS is written to use it. Pete

>I have a A1200 with hard drive and the GVP A1230 Turbo+. I really like >the accelerator, it makes computing much more fun.. I read your advert in >AmigaWorld that you have a new version, the series II. I was wondering if >there is some kind of upgrade path. Is…
#FAX and 2000 Message #70387
From: GVP Tech Amiga Vendor Forum · MicroIllusions December 15, 1993 9:01 AM
Strange issue there, Bill. As the saying goes "it works on my machine ok" Are you running version 2.0? Some issues that should be noted. The Phonepak, Lineman, library and device driver are rather sensitive with each other. Additionally, earlier versions of the install script (1.02 PhonePak) did not account…
#GVP 030 vs Toaster Message #70386
From: GVP Tech Amiga Vendor Forum · MicroIllusions December 15, 1993 9:01 AM
If you're trying to get access to the BBS, let me say that first time callers get all the access it is possible to get in our BBS. It is not meant to be a forum, but rather a resource where one gets what he/she needs and is out of…
GVP HD8+ advice Message #70385
From: GVP Tech Amiga Vendor Forum · MicroIllusions December 15, 1993 9:01 AM
HELP! My girlfriend bought one of these lovely 42Mb drives for her A500 recently, but when I fitted 2Mb of RAM to it it stopped working (the whole Amiga, not just the Drive). If I set the jumpers back to 0 RAM (SIMMs still in situ), all is fine again.…
SPECTRUM Message #70384
From: GVP Tech Amiga Vendor Forum · MicroIllusions December 15, 1993 9:01 AM
YOUR MESSAGE: Having trouble with Spectrum… After setting everything up and going into WB Prefs/Screenmode, the system works OK in all color modes except 256 (it locks up). Also, no matter how many colors I save in Prefs for WB to be in EGS, it always locks up on booting…
#FAX and 2000 Message #70383
From: GVP Tech Amiga Vendor Forum · MicroIllusions December 15, 1993 9:01 AM
Bill, We have talked with others who use PhonePak with an A3001 accelerator with no problems whatsoever. Perhaps your A3001 needs a PAL upgrade or a repair, or there's a problem with your motherboard (you didn't mention the motherboard revision).
Spectrum Board Message #70382
From: GVP Tech Amiga Vendor Forum · MicroIllusions December 15, 1993 9:01 AM
Mr. Gualino, Please re-install the Spectrum software using EXPERT MODE. Then reboot and edit the STARTUP-SEQUENCE. Add these two lines immediately BEFORE the IPrefs command, and AFTER the EGS function calls: ECHO CON: WAIT 2 If you still have a problem after this, please send a fax to GVP Technical…
Wangtek + GVP Message #70381
From: GVP Tech Amiga Vendor Forum · MicroIllusions December 15, 1993 9:01 AM
Mr. Murphy, SCSI PHASE errors are usually due to reselection problems with the tape drive. You can turn off reselection by adding a line to your startup-sequence as follows: 1. Copy the GVPCTRL program to your C: directory 2. Add "GVPCTRL {ID} DCOFF ({ID} is the SCSI ID number of…
GVP G-Lock for SALE! Message #70380
From: GVP Tech Amiga Vendor Forum · MicroIllusions December 15, 1993 9:01 AM
Jochen, You do not need to sell the G-Lock. An adapter is available to allow you to use the Amiga's PARALLEL port to control G-Lock, instead of the joystick port. You need version 1.16 of the G-Lock software, and the README file on that disk describes this adapter. Pete

Mr. Helms, GVPINFO will report the same information as SysInfo, only GVPINFO is accurate. 🙂 As I wrote in my other message, please tell me EXACTLY what appears in GVPINFO's "Board" listing — EVERY ITEM. Of course, the best way to determine what board you have is too remove it…
Impact board Message #70377
From: GVP Tech Amiga Vendor Forum · MicroIllusions December 15, 1993 9:01 AM
Mr. Helms, I will need more information to answer your question. Are you referring to the information reported in GVPINFO? If so, please list EVERYTHING that appears in that GVPINFO list. Thanks. Pete
#69970 PhonePak FAX Message #70376
From: GVP Tech Amiga Vendor Forum · MicroIllusions December 15, 1993 9:01 AM
Dear Mr. Lininger, Do you know the brand and model of the fax machine to which you cannot connect? It may be a fax machine that is not cpmatible with PhonePak. Also, have you tried sending the fax to any other fax machine? If not, please try to send that…
From: GVP Tech Amiga Vendor Forum · MicroIllusions December 15, 1993 9:00 AM
Mr. Mendoza, You need to purchase a GVP SIMM32-4MB for that accelerator. If you do not have a local dealer, please check out the ads in Amiga World or Amazing Computing. Pete
#70196 PhonePak fax problem Message #70374
From: GVP Tech Amiga Vendor Forum · MicroIllusions December 15, 1993 9:00 AM
Chris, What brand fax machine is at the other end? Some fax machines are just not compatible with other fax devices. Have you tried faxing to GVP (215-337-9922), because that fax is definitely compatible with PhonePak? Pete
#70150 #G-Lock problems Message #70373
From: GVP Tech Amiga Vendor Forum · MicroIllusions December 15, 1993 9:00 AM
Dear Jochen, Have you had the opportunity to try your G-Lock on another machine? It is possible that your A2000 is not sending the correct reset signals back to your G-Lock, therefore it gets stuck in an endless loop. If the unit operates correctly on somebody else's system, I would…

From: GVP Tech Amiga Vendor Forum · MicroIllusions November 8, 1993 10:37 AM
Gary, Add a line to S:User-Startup to call the GvpScsiCtrl program, using this format: GVPSCSICTRL id DCOFF Where "id" is the SCSI ID of the tape drive. Note that the SCSI error that you reported occured on SCSI ID 0 — you didn't mention what drive resides at this SCSI…

GVP ioExtender Message #67885
From: GVP Tech Amiga Vendor Forum · MicroIllusions November 8, 1993 10:36 AM
The I/O Extender comes with a program called SETDEVICE. This program (controlled by the GVPIOCTRL preferences program) will redirect calls sent to serial.device to gvpser.device. As far as programming for the board, all of the calls to gvpser.device are exact duplicates of the calls to serial.device. There is nothing that…
#Help Message #67884
From: GVP Tech Amiga Vendor Forum · MicroIllusions November 8, 1993 10:36 AM
No, the only product at this time which will work in the mini-slot is the PC286. The SIMMs that have come to be known as industry standard SIMMs will not work on our A530 controller. You must use those SIMMs that have the GVP seal on them (the same as…

#67514 G-Force Combo Message #67874
From: GVP Tech Amiga Vendor Forum · MicroIllusions November 8, 1993 8:27 AM
Have you tried installing the G-Force card WITHOUT the hard drive connected to it? You wrote that you MADE a cable, so the first thing that you should do is REMOVE the cable from the board. Boot up with the board ONLY — no drives connected to it. If it…
#66782 G-Force help Message #67611
From: GVP Tech Amiga Vendor Forum · MicroIllusions November 4, 1993 8:49 AM
Since the move to the Comb030 board, have you tried re-formating the hard drive completely, and not just re-writing the RDB? It is possible that this is the problem… GW

#67185 #Hard drive probs. Message #67609
From: GVP Tech Amiga Vendor Forum · MicroIllusions November 4, 1993 8:48 AM
Jonathan, It sounds like you need to perform a BAD BLOCK REMAP on that new drive. Use Manual Installation mode of FAAASTPREP, look at the drive, then hit the Bad Block Remap button. Another possibility is that the SCSI termination is not proper, but you did not describe the SCSI…
Help with spectrum Message #67608
From: GVP Tech Amiga Vendor Forum · MicroIllusions November 4, 1993 8:48 AM
Please call/fax GVP Technical Services to get a return authorization number for the Spectrum. There is a modification needed for SOME boards when using an NEC FG-series monitor. The FG monitors use a pin on the VGA connector that is designated as "no connect" so this pin is not connected…

David, We're here, but you should call GVP Technical Services at 215-354-9495, or fax to 215-337-9922. It's quicker to do it that way than to use Compuserve. Pete GVP Technical Services

#66938 No SCSI in the box ? Message #67605
From: GVP Tech Amiga Vendor Forum · MicroIllusions November 4, 1993 8:47 AM
Seppi, We really need more information about what is going on. Is this a Quantum ELS drive? If so, then you need the latest version of the GVP boot ROM (which is 4.13). If you do, then tell us PRECISELY what occurs when you run FAAASTPREP and look at the…
#66960 GVP boot68000 Message #67604
From: GVP Tech Amiga Vendor Forum · MicroIllusions November 4, 1993 8:47 AM
Bruce, There is no way to remain in 68000 mode after booting. If you really REALLY need to remain in 68000 mode, then change the jumper on the accelerator that disables the board completely. It sounds like you're trying to run a game… (IMHO, forget the game. Why spend all…
From: GVP Tech Amiga Vendor Forum · MicroIllusions November 4, 1993 8:47 AM
Mike, You may have to change the "power-up option" jumper on the Maxtor. I do not have specifications on that drive, so I cannot tell you precisely which jumper that is. In regard to the error message ("Unexpected …"), the AmigaDOS requester that appears will display a UNIT NUMBER or…
EGS Message #67602
From: GVP Tech Amiga Vendor Forum · MicroIllusions November 4, 1993 8:47 AM
strongly I search for a public domain program named EGSDock. In Germany they are good graphic boards, which support EGS, and I4d heart that EGSDock can patch non-EGS-programs to an EGS-Screen. Where can I get this program ??? Do you now something about it ???? The EGS-Dock program is for…
#67328 ioExtender and MIDI Message #67601
From: GVP Tech Amiga Vendor Forum · MicroIllusions November 4, 1993 8:47 AM
Kurt, The MIDI interface was something that we wanted to implement but never came to light. It was never going to add internal MIDI capabilities but was going to be something similar to the TRIPLE-PLAY unit from Blue Ribbon Softworks. NO plans on completing this unit is scheduled. You may…
GVPserial driver Message #67600
From: GVP Tech Amiga Vendor Forum · MicroIllusions November 4, 1993 8:47 AM
You will find no GVPSER.device proper to speak of… This device is created from a file called `GVPIO' located in the Expansion drawer. The process is the same for A2000-HC8 owners that have disabled the autobooting jumper (a misnomer – I'd rather call it ROM enable) everytime they execute `binddrivers'.…

#63124- GVP SCSI Card Message #63162
From: GVP Tech Amiga Vendor Forum · MicroIllusions August 30, 1993 12:03 PM
I think the newest GVP device is at least 4.1. ================= Current ROM revision on HC8+II cards is 4.13 We employ the Commodore method of numbering on ROMs so a 4.5 ROM is older that 4.13(thirteen). I state this heare for clarification to many users. The 4.5 ROM is fine…
