No, the only product at this time which will work in the mini-slot is
the PC286. The SIMMs that have come to be known as industry standard
SIMMs will not work on our A530 controller. You must use those SIMMs
that have the GVP seal on them (the same as all our accelerator
SIMMs).
I have a feeling that this is why we are having so much trouble with
our A530 and PC286 combo. I don't quite remember if GVP manufactured
the SIMM, but I could pop open the case of the A530 and check.
I checked — it is a GVP SIMM.
Nancy called support and they advised her to add a SetCPU NoCache statement
and a statement adding 100 buffers to DH0: to startup-sequence, but neither of
those cleared up the problems she stated.
