Just curious………any obj/mod/3ds converters out there that KEEP texture vertices? Jeff Dobrow
Viewpoint Datalabs sells datasets of everything. They have several skeletons, musculatures, and anything else anatomical you could think of. All I have offhand is an 800 # and that won't help you. If you can't aquire their # let me know and I'll E-mail it to you. Jeff Dobrow F.Y.I…
#195595 I NEED HARDWARE TIPS Message #195804
Alejandro, I will will attemp to help: 1) Single Framing: You need a frame accurate editing deck (Sony makes a nice new one especially for anim. recording), a single frame controller (Diaquest, BCD….etc), and a frame buffer card. All these creatures need to co-exist and talk to each other as…
#195662 #PAR or PVR Message #195803
?QUE? I was quite curious as to the difference myself……however, I am not fluent (or even efficient) in Spanish. If you could re-post in English I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks much, Jeff Dobrow
#194855 Arcade type explosion Message #194867
Victor, You could create 2-4 cartoon/illustrative 'explosion' bitmaps. Map them on concentric, offset polygons (either shaped or opacity/specular mapped) then key their motion (scaling/mat morphing to trans.) to get the timing you want. Very 2-D. J.D.
#194537 Help with lights!! Message #194546
Kevin, Well…a few ideas….(I'm lacking some necessary info. from your scene). Is the scene overlit? (overlapping lights combining to create a too great intensity) What about the specular settings of your logo material?…to flat a specular curve will result in a wide 'hot spot' covering most of your object. Also…
Thanx for the tip. I too have noticed that 3DS does not produce proper reflections on flat surfaces (unless you use 'auto' reflect), but does well on curved surfaces. If anyone elso out there can explain "WHY" and/or has any other work-arounds please post. Jeff Dobrow
#192086 Command Line open Message #192329
From: Jeff Dobrow Autodesk Multimedia Forum · Autodesk 3D Studio September 24, 1995 1:02 PM
Benjamin, >> Thanks.. You are welcome……one thing to keep in mind though is that when executing rendering projects from the command line it is important to check your settings in the project (alpha options, pikel size,…etc) and 'make sure the camera viewport is selected when you save the project'. There is…
#191986 #Command Line open Message #191998
From: Jeff Dobrow Autodesk Multimedia Forum · Autodesk 3D Studio September 21, 1995 2:42 PM
Benjamin, >>I would like to know what the command line functions to 3D-Studio are…. I assume you mean from the DOS command line……..if so,……. they are listed in the advanced users guide and allow you to 'from the command line' open and render .prj's .3ds's, control file type, res, aspect, video post…..etc. This…
#191978 #Porting IPAS to SGI Message #191996
From: Jeff Dobrow Autodesk Multimedia Forum · Software Dev. Kits September 21, 1995 2:36 PM
Kevin, >> Perhaps you've misunderstood the concept Yes…I probably did. After having purchsed the SGI 3-D studio renderer I discovered I could not render any IPAS procedures with it. I just wondered if/where/how to aquire/port/buy these routines so as to increase the functionality of my SGI. Right now its a…
#191816 #Porting IPAS to SGI Message #191875
From: Jeff Dobrow Autodesk Multimedia Forum · Software Dev. Kits September 20, 1995 7:40 PM
Kevin, I will contact my VAR. In the meantime (as ADESK solutions………take time), is this something you or your firm can deal with? ….As far as 'my needing source code'…that's not the level I wish to approach this at; Is there a "commercially available", "easy" solution to this task? Or…

Anyone have any knowledge on porting IPAS routines to work with the SGI 3-D Studio renderer on SGI under IRIX? Any help would be appreciated.
