#Help with lights!!
3 messages in this thread
I need some help with a company logo I've been working on. I'm using 3DS r3
and I'm haveing trouble getting some lights to do what I want. I need for
these lights to just show the even color of a material an NOT affect the
Shadows or Reflections. I know how to do the show bit, but if I turn these
lights on, I get an almost white reflection instead of a nice goldish color
that I'm looking for.
If anyone is intrested in helping me I will upload the file and needed info to
them.
Please anyone with a clue HELP!!!
Kevin
Kevin,
Well…a few ideas….(I'm lacking some necessary info. from your scene).
Is the scene overlit? (overlapping lights combining to create a too great
intensity)
What about the specular settings of your logo material?…to flat a specular
curve
will result in a wide 'hot spot' covering most of your object. Also perhaps
you could
experiment with a 'specular map' to get 'just right' reflections in your
highlight. If
you wish to get me the file I will gladly attempt to help.

I will try your thoughts out later this afternoon. If that doesn't work, I
send you the file and describe what I'm trying to get. If I do send the file,
I will also have to send the *.mli file as well won't I? It contains some
custom materials, but uses the standard maps to create them.
BTW If I upload a *.prj file, does that contain all the needed things for
someone to render it on the other end? Or will I still need to send the MLI
file as well?
Thanks for you help
Kevin
