PMJI– Could you tell me the model number of the new Toshiba CD-rom and also what dealer is handling it. Thanks MEK
Thanks for the info on using your Toshiba 3301 with a non-Toshiba controller. I assume you did not get the Sumo controller as part of a package (could Sumo make Toshiba's controller, I doubt it). MY dealer believes me, its HIS wholesaler who's causing the confusion.
Thanks. I am checking there too. But I really want to know what Toshiba owners themselves have experienced in the real world, not what controller vendors say OUGHT to work.

I thought I had a problem solved, but I,m back again. The consensus I got was that A Toshiba 3301B should work with an UltraStor SCSI controller so long as the Ultra Stor had an ASPI manager. However -my vendors distributor claims that the Toshiba works only with its own…
My lack of faith is not in the product itself (which sounds like it has many technical virtues) but in IBM's marketing, promotion and overall handling of the system. I feel that, commercially, Windows NT is likely to make a stronger impact.
You're probably right about NT, but I am tired of waiting for a 32 bit operating system and I dont have much faith in IBM's handling of OS/2.
Thanks. I have since seen the same thing re PAS 16 SCSI invisibility. I hope its true.
I think I'm just going to be able to scrape by price-wise. Just to complicate matters, I've ordered the Windows NT PDK. I suspect I'm in store for lots of "excitement".
I'll be using an UltrStor 34F VESA Local Bus SCSI controller with the Toshiba 3301 (I hope!!!!!!). Theoretically, this should be a fullycompliant implementation (such as it is).

This has been a disastrous year computer-wise. First, my original computer blew up (only slightly an exaggeration–delayed reaction to lightning). Luckily, I got some insurance money. I then bought a feature-rich computer from a no-name maker. After long struggling, this was sent back for repairs (or else). It came back,…

Is the Tshiba 3301B a SCSI-2 drive? Are there 3301s that are not 3301Bs that have different specs. Finally, how would you rate this drive as compared to Sony and/or NEC models?
