The best Shell for the Amiga, which happens to be highly similar to the Unix one, is CShell (also known as CSH). You can find version 3.2 in DL 9. BTW, it's created by two young italian boys from Pisa — where the tower is! Mario.
I meant 'Faulty' as 'It didn't work at the firt try'! I'm sorry if I chose the wrong word, but english is not my first lagnuage, since I call from Rome, Italy. Mario!
David, I DON'T like it. I just love it.. 🙂 Don't mind for the installation script: even if it was faulty, it is the best one I've ever seen. I wasn't sure about buying a MIDI interface for my Amiga before seeing Music-X (I have an atari ST, you know..).…

Nope, CBM distributes disks that way. I would have preferred them to customize the kickstart to open the initial CLI screen at a full size instead! The exact name was "WorkBench 1.2 A500 I", if I'm not wrong. Mario
It sounds strange to me too, Richard! I got that file on Channel One (617-354-7077 + some others), the biggest BBS in the Boston area.. I don't live in the US, so I prefer not to call/write to the person mentioned in the file… But You (or someone else) could…

Well.. Usually the Amiga areas on Italian BBS's are much more ACTIVE (Maurice knows what I'm talking about 🙂 than their IBM counterparts! If I'm not wrong, the Italian market is the second one on the european scene. Yes, we DO have a lots of Amigas here. Mario
I think so. Kickstart 1.3 wasn't a great improvement. 1.4 is gonna be.. Mario
I am actually an user of both an Amiga 500 and an A2000. I haven't moved to 1.3, because its only major improvement was 'auto-booting', and my HD isn't compatable with that. But I'll surely upgrade my ROM as soon as 1.4 available. It seems to be a great improvement!…
..Comments? Buy a MS-DOS machine! Mario
Brian, can you describe us the board? Have you got any interesting infos? -Thanx, Mario
As far as I know, the card was announced during the 'Second European Developers Conference' in Hamburg (15-18 January): the seven ports will support speeds up to 19200 Baud, and the card will contain a 6502 chip, to control them. – Mario
Custom-BBS 2.5 is a commercial program: its cost is about 110 dollars. – Mario

Another good choice would be Atredes-BBS V. 1.1, which has a GREAT message base section… Check it out! – Mario
The A2232 will have 7 serial (or parallel ports) on a single full-sized card designed for the Amiga 2000… It think it will be released before the end of the year (october/november).. – Mario
I dunno how things are going there in the US, but I can tell you that here in Italy sell much more program copies than software houses do. UNFORTUNATELY. – Mario
Bill, Telenet, Tymnet (and Itapac for italians like me..:-) are ALL X.25 nets. You can call them via a X.28/9 interface (= 3/12/24 modem on dial-up line), or via an X.25 interface (= 24,48,96,192 terminal on a special leased line). – Mario

#RLE or GIF ???
Message #43975
Well.. I'm writing a BBS program with a friend of mine. We need to use an online graphic protocol, like RLE and GIF. Can we use them freely, or shall we ask any permission (..or pay something…) to Compuserve ? Thanx, – Mario
