I know what you mean about leaving the higher end color palettes. But I'm used to jumping around with FlexDesk since Fractral Design likes true 24 bit color, video accelleration only works in 65k, Grandma etc only in 256, etc. etc. The price we pay for our ATI cards, the…
#Grandma-s pallette prob
Message #52071
Nill, I had the same problem and I have the same system as you. I solved it by changing the screen resolution to 640×400 with 256 colors under the ATI FlexDesk contol panel. See if that works for you. Sandy
I've been using Speedcache+ as well and have 7th Guest. There is essentially no speedup, as you'd expect, the first time you view a scene, but as you move around, you often repeat a previous scene and these movements are spead-up nicely. Seems to be a great program. Only way…
Jan, might want to have them consider, briefly, the instantaneous database access that emergency rooms (and hospital-based physicians, in general) have using networked CD-ROM readers. Textbooks, poison control information, drug interaction evaluation, etc. Sandy

#Problems w/Global Explor
Message #46750
I got my Global Explorer disc yesterday and it is a program similar in quality to Street Atlas. I have been having some trouble when I leave the program. Upon exiting after a long session I have, on several occassions, found that redraws of my screen were disabled. That is,…
I've seen a dermatology CD-ROM in my hospital library. Has the usual derm pictures such as in Kimmig and Janner. (I've always felt these were unhelpful because they show only the most dramatic versions of a given disease, rather than the more subtle things one sees in practice.) I can…
Perfect! Just what I need. My wife's German parents, visiting us for the holiday, will be serenaded by our daughters in the original German. Thank you for the lovely Christmas gift and Merry Christmas to you. Sandy
#Silent Night in German??
Message #34781
I'm in a desperate situation: I need to find the German lyrics to the Christmas carol Silent Night by Christmas eve. Can you help by providing the lyrics or informing me of a more likely forum to post this request? Thanks and Merry Christmas! Sandy

Street Atlas USA
Message #30566
I never got a firm committment to a lower price, only people mysteriously telling me I'll do better by waiting. Since the database is the same as Street Atlas and I have had no trouble exporting the maps to other programs for annotation and the like, I just can't see…
Actually, Jan, they use liquid nitrogen a lot around here (to cool electron microscopes and MRIs). Maybe they wouldn't notice if I ran a small, insulated metal tube a couple of blocks to my home… Sandy
Do you know what Map Expert will sell for at 'street price'? I'm trying to decide whether to pay the $295 upgrade price from Steet Atlas (a price which expires 11/6/92) or wait and see if I can do better retail. Sandy
Thanks for the suggestion regarding the cause of these problems. Actually, Word for Windows continues to load and runs fine *except* that it can't find the on-disc users guide that the CD-ROM version uses in place of the help file. If I change the WIN.INI section that points to my…
I believe I've got the latest SONY driver but haven't checked recently since I expect the new Trantor 16k driver Real Soon Now (I ordered it Oct 1). This is the new driver, commissioned by SONY, that makes the drive multimedia compliant. (It gives the SONY a 64k buffer and…
I'm using the SONY 7205 with its proprietary SCSI-like interface. Sandy
The problem is only in Norton Desktop. And it's not a terrible problem if I do things "right". The most reproducable way of getting the problem is as follows: I run CorelDRAW! and it accesses the CORELDRW directory of drive M: (my CD-ROM drive). I exit CorelDRAW!, place the Word…
Well, you can load windows without NDW if you change the desktop entry in System.ini and you can load program manager or file manager while in NDW. When Norton answered my question about the MSCDEX problem they also refered to the fact that getting an older version of MSCDEX will…
Albert: I am running NDW 2.0 and it was the SYSOP on the Norton forum that told me to go to an older version (older than 2.21). I have to go check my CRC's now Sandy
I've got an interesting problem. I need an OLDER version of MSCDEX! I've got 2.21 and am having problems under Norton Desktop for Windows. I get uncerimoniously dumped from windows without even a GPF if I try to access my CD-ROM after changing discs, without first doing a directory check.…
Peter, I don't know specifically about a unique number but virtually any CD with more than one track has audio. Come to think of it there must be indentifying info of some sort since, when using one of the CD player audio packages I have (I think it's the Corel)…
Now you tell me!! There is 1 Reply.
Oops…just noticed 'unsulicited'…sorry
VBTools
Message #1242
Mark, VBTools arrived and the nicest thing about it is that it contained even more capability than I had hoped. Control events that I had worked around are handled in a single command with the Tools. I couldn't be more pleased. Thanks for your intervention on the discount and thanks…
