The Retro.scsi init is not required to make retrospect function. It sets the Mac to allow SCSI reselection, a function the Mac does not normally have enabled. The Mac Plus cannot be set to allow reselection, therefore the Retro.scsi init will not load. I have use Retrospect 1.3 and 2.0…

Mike, I use PCs, Macs and Amigas (mostly Macs) on a professional level every day. I have no problem paying for a valid UPGRADE. In fact, during the past week, I have paid $150 to upgrade one piece of software and $49 to upgrade another. I did this happily, as…

Actually, If you wait long enough, the system will boot. It takes about 30 seconds for the A3000's controller to stop searching the removable drive for a boot block. This, unfortuanately is the way the A3000's internal SCSI works. I have the same problem but have gotten around it by…

I am currently using a Tandberg TDC 3600 tape drive with the A3000's built in scsi. It works fine with Quarterback, HDBackup (yuk) or BRU, but sometimes locks up the scsi bus when used with AmiBack 2.0f.1. The drive is reasonably fast, and the price is RIGHT! Darrin

Ok, I agree the 2090(a) is fine for the average user, but as the enhanced chip set provides more video modes (and greater demands on DMA) the 2090(a) controllers' problems will only become more pronounced. Darrin Raposa

Just a couple of commets: 1. The 2090/2090A are VERY fast controllers. 2. The rodime drives that c= has been shipping recently with the 2090/2090a is a fine drive. Quick/quiet/reliable, But MFM format. 3. The main reason I am "down" on the 2090/2090A is their perfomance under high DMA conditions.…

Kelly, First of all, I never said anything about what type of drive the 2000HD or 2500 come with. The contention problem is with the controller, not the drive. The contention problem exists with ANY type of drive used on the 2090/2090A. Second the Kronos hard card comes fully formatted…

Hi Josh, I hate to disagree with the masses but I recommend staying away from the 2000HD and the 2500 simply due to the low quality hard drive they come with and the DMA problems associate with the commodore 2090A controller. My personal recommendation is an A2000 with a GVP…
