Mike,
I use PCs, Macs and Amigas (mostly Macs) on a professional level every
day. I have no problem paying for a valid UPGRADE. In fact, during the
past week, I have paid $150 to upgrade one piece of software and $49 to
upgrade another. I did this happily, as these prices represented great
values. Advertising a forms update as a software upgrade is, in my
personal opinion, a very poor practice – bordering on downright dishonest.
If your selling a form update, call it a form update. I probably would
still have bought it, but maybe I'd have purchased Mac-In-Tax or
Turbo-Tax. At the very least I would have been better informed for my
software choice. It's not the software. It's not the upgrade price. It's
simply that your upgrade notice implied more than what I received. Did
you think that if you advertised a form's upgrade that fewer people would
buy it? You probably would have sold fewer copies, but you would no doubt
have more satisfied customers willing to pull out their checkbook for
[]xxi (what's with the brackets??) products again. Thanks for listening.
