Joseph- I've used a program called adiPLOT which is advertised in the mags. It improves the FX resolution quite a bit and works from the AutoCAD ADI driver. You basically do a PRPLOT to file and this program does the dump to the printer! Makes some nice plots! >>> John
Robert- Have you looked in the AutoCAD manuals? The .DXF format is documented there! (Or it was… Is it the new manuals Jamie?) >>> John
Jamie- As I mentioned to Brad, I thought the messages might come from the home front but if we can get live reports, all the better! Just thought you might need something to do while the other folks were away! >>> John
Alright Brad! Yeah! I guess I invsioned Jamie as holding down the fort and getting reports from the show and then passing them on. But… If you're gonna be there and modem equiped then Yeeee Haaaa! We'll get on the spot info! As far as what to look for, anything…
Excitement!
Message #22164
Yo Jamie! The excitement is building even for thos of us not going to the AEC show! All these rumors floating around about release 10, Apples, etc! I can hardly wait to find out what happens! Unfortunately, I won't be there! And… I imagine there are a few other dedicated…
Len- I think I saw the same add and I think that program is basically a rip off (either intentional or not) of Autodesk's own Kelvinator. What these programs do is replace the variable names with nonsense names and remove all the carriage returns, spaces, and tabs. What results is…
Hmmmmmm…… Editing the slides? >>> John

SlideManager 3.3
Message #21935
Hey! Have uploaded tonight the latest version of SlideManager. It should be available in DL 9 as soon as the Sysop can take care of it. This version adds the new Gyroview mode to SlideManger's many options. This allows you to put a slide up on the screen, zoom in…
Ah Ha! Well, I knew it worked in there somehow – I just didn't know the details. Thanks for the interesting facts! >>> John
I understand that you guys had some other ideas when getting started and may still have those ideas. I didn't mean to imply there was anything wrong with that. As of late, however, you HAVE concentrated on the CAD markets with Sketch and Shade and this just seems like a…

Encode
Message #21691
You guys seen this program Encode (advertised on pg. 61 of CADalyst Vol 5 No 2)? Looks like someone is marketing the Kelvinator! It claims to do almost the exact same things! They're only asking $39.95 but it seems like they aren't offering anything more fo it! Check it out…

I knew that got in there for some reason or another. Seems like a good feature to me. Getting more requests for menus… May be a couple of months but you'll see a new version with some new features one of these days! (Not a promise, just a guess -…

As a fellow sysop (The ToolBox 617-364-2474), our trojan horse experiance is quite different. We test everything as well but have never found any damaging programs (quit a few that didn't work though). I detest the hassle of mailing – I'd much rather upload. To me, it's a much more…

Craig- (From an outsiders point of view) Hypertext envolves the concept of linking text with other text – for exaple, you might be able to click your mouse on one word in a paragraph and up might spring a deeper explanation of that subject. It's sort of a combination of…

I dropped it on a couple of boards… I should do more of that. I also thought of throwing in a slide or two but decided the .ARC was a big enough file to download already. I'll reconsider that though so that people can get it up and running right…

Thanks for the kind words! As for the zoom mode, uh, well, it came in because someone asked for it and it seemed like a neat hack! I guess one use of it might be if you had a slide of a floor plan of a building. You could display…

Sending a copy to CADalyst as well… Maybe I can get them to do a review! Gonna try to get some more publicity for this thing and see if it can compete with the "big guys"! Thanks for the good word !

Looks like SlideManager has some competition! Anybody seen the add in the latest CADalyst for SLD/Librarian from Nuendorf Systems (Page 67 I think)? Appears to have much the same functions as SlideManger (No support for Herc or 8514 though, and no .DXF facility or slide version conversion, at least not…

Jamie… Actually RXMODEM is Croostalkeese for Recieve-Xmodem and initiates good old checksum Xmodem in Crosstalk. As far as I know, Crosstalk does not support the "relaxed" form of this protocol. The Croostalk proprietary protocal as really only used to transfer files between to systems both running Crosstalk (or one of…

Chester… Sorry to jump in but… That's a feature! If you create a block with entities on any layer other than layer 0, then when you insert that block, the entities come in on the layer they were created on. If you want the entities to reside on the same…
