#Microsoft Network Message #178649
Any plans to support the microsoft network. The 3ds forum is the only reason I'm on an online service.
#178468 #3DS R5 for Win95? Message #178474
Good point! I will wait and see. Thanks
#178259 #3DS R5 for Win95? Message #178460
You're not indignant, and forgive the characterization. I'm not bitching, I'm just lobbying for backward compatibility, and that is function of the software manufacture. There is a way that this can be done since win95 share most of there 32-bit API. I will post is as a wishlist item. Didn't…
#178369- #3DS R5 for Win95? Message #178459
I'm not arguing against porting to NT. I'm just lobbying for backward compatibility for users who don't have the hardware that would make NT a better performer.
#177989 #3DS R5 for Win95? Message #178222
Does this mean that anyone who doesn't upgrade to NT will forever be using be using rel. 4 under the constrictive environment of dos.
#177927 #3DS R5 for Win95? Message #178221
How about long file names, drag and drop, compatibility with over 20 million users, less stringent ram requirements, 32-bit robustness, and plug and play support that would ease adding hardware support for 3ds. I could go on, but I don't understand your indignation especially since you can support nt and…
#177758 #3DS R5 for Win95? Message #177925
I realize that, but why make it INCOMPATIBLE with win 95, if you don't have to.
#Common 3d format Message #177755
This is a wishlist item, or more accurately a plea. You are the most powerful company in 3d software. Why not hold a conference with the other industry leaders and microsoft to set up a common 3d format that carries texture mapping information. You could even push the 3ds format…
#3DS R5 for Win95? Message #177754
By the way, does anyone know if 3ds rel. 5 will run under win95. If not, why not. What API calls would be incompatible with the win95 32 API? Microsoft NT programs run unchanged under NT and win95? I hope Autodesk can figure out a way to perform this technical…
#Color/modeling wish Message #171948
how about letting color images to be seen to aid in modeling
I was wondering why you can select items in keyframer to move more then one at the same time. Is there a reason you left this ability out of the program. Everytime I'm working in keyframer, I have a need to do this. Also another wishlist item is the ability…
#167913 Microstation DXF Message #168400
You know I don't know what the problem is. I'm using micro v.5. What does 3ds do when you try to import. I also use the dxf to 3ds file located in the library because its quicker than 3ds at converting dxf to 3ds.
#167528 #NT………..Hmmmm. Message #167792
My NT experience was totally different than yours. It recognized everything in my system which OS2 couldn't do, and the operating system is simply bulletproof.
#167320 #Microstation DXF Message #167791
I use Microstation for modeling, but you have to export your geometry as a DXF file and bring it into 3ds.
#165552 NURBS Modeler Message #166487
Me too!
#165513 3DS /NT/ Win95 Message #166486
My inguiries about win 95 compatibility was not to suggest that 3ds5 be ported to 95 as oppose to NT. My only point was that cross platform compatibility would be on my wishlist as Microsoft has done with their NT versions of word and excel. I was under the impression…
#162960 #3DS /NT/ Win95 Message #164989
I understand all the capabilities of NT, but my point is why limit the market share that R5 would have if would be easy to make it backwards compatible with Win 95 as Microsoft has done with their NT products.
#162082 #Morph Targets Message #162837
Exactly! They should spend less time on features more time on making sure that people would be productive with the program.
#162078 #R4 bug Message #162834
They could be specifying it as a NT product so that it supports faster processors or multiprocessors. I can't think of any reason why it would be made not to run under win95 since win95 puts less stringent requirements for programs to run than NT does.
Similarly the ability to convert any view top, etc. to a camera would be great too.
#161741 #R4 bug Message #162007
Wow, what a cryptic message. Still put it on the wishlist if that's okay. Mums the word!
#161673 #Morph Targets Message #162004
I can't see it being used as your main modeler, but what attracted it to me was the ability to construct NURBS surfaces from curves that you draw like SGI 3d programs. The disadvantage of the program is that you can't edit a selection set of vertices at one time,…
#R4 bug Message #161570
Will the NT version of 3ds run under windows 95 like microsoft nt versions of their software. If not could you consider this a wishlist item.
#159952 #spline modeling Message #161569
Thanks for the info. Maintaining vertex counts would be a feature that could elevate the program to a must have modeler. I've used the NURBS modeling in Microstation 5.0, and you can use it as morph targets.
#157843 #spline modeling Message #159871
I'm using Animation Master also. I'm wondering if there is a way to export dxf models from master into 3ds with identical face counts so that I can modify a model in Master and export it as keyframes in 3ds for morphing.
#157165 Win 95 Message #158431
Thanks for the info.
#157045 #Win 95 Message #158430
I'm using the Calcomp tablet with a pressure sensitive pen. I think it's called ccmouse.
#Win 95 Message #157034
Do you know if 3ds3 runs under win 95 as it does under win 3.1.
#avi support Message #153984
From: Rico C. Alexander Autodesk Multimedia Forum · Wishlist February 17, 1995 11:08 PM
If you're going to nt my wish would by 32-bit avi support within 3ds.
#4124 #ER problems Message #4243
Let me just say that this is the most incredible response I've ever gotten to a question, and I won't to thank you for the details. I just purchased ER for windows, and have been experimenting with it. Without a doubt its one the most impressive programs I have coming…
#3991 #ER problems Message #4111
I'm sure get this question all the time, but how was the face mask morph done in Stargate. If I purchased the PC version of ER, could I do the same effect. Also as a suggestion for the next release. I wish there was a way to select a group…
#Image Browser Message #152306
Is there a way that I can get a hold of the image browser by it self.
new release Message #3937
From: Rico C. Alexander Animation Vendor A Forum · Hash, Inc. February 7, 1995 3:54 PM
Does the new version of AM for windows allow the creation of solid objects easier like font extrusion where you don't have to go and connect patches to make it solid. Also is there a way to create splines in culture without having to constantly press the add vertex. Something…
#3807 AM IMPROVEMENT Message #3935
From: Rico C. Alexander Animation Vendor A Forum · Hash, Inc. February 7, 1995 3:39 PM
You might be right. I've never typed directories and subdirectories in Hash because most programs let you double-click to get through directories. I guess AM doesn't allow you to do that. I'll try it the other way.
#3ds Message #3740
From: Rico C. Alexander Animation Vendor A Forum · Hash, Inc. February 2, 1995 5:29 PM
Does anyone know of a technique where you can create the multiple objects in Master, export as dxf and maintain the exact face count with objects that have identical patches, so that they can be morphable in 3dstudio.
#3517 #AM IMPROVEMENT Message #3739
From: Rico C. Alexander Animation Vendor A Forum · Hash, Inc. February 2, 1995 5:13 PM
I agree wholeheartedly with the complaints about Master's interface. Just count the steps you have to go through to complete a scene. You have to enter and exit programs about five times remembering to save your work under a certain file name. When you save a file you have no…
#Online Message #150664
I was wondering why you don't have a support service on America Online. It would save alot 3ds users alot of money. Is it too expensive. Do you make money by having a service on Compuserve.
#145316 #3D Studio FLC file Message #145666
Why don't you support the pcx file format in 3ds. It's the choice of most game producers?
#2443 Stargate Message #2459
As long as the final output is the same, I would love to have the program. Thanks.
#2438 File Conversion Message #2458
From: Rico C. Alexander Animation Vendor A Forum · Hash, Inc. December 15, 1994 9:25 PM
The only problem with dxf output is the lack of details such as textures, lights, and camera support, so you would have to do all of this in 3ds, but I was only making the suggestion of 3ds support because it didn't seem very difficult to do. If it is…
#2426 #Stargate Message #2430
What's the difference in features between the windows and SGI version of ER besides speed of course?
#File Conversion Message #2427
From: Rico C. Alexander Animation Vendor A Forum · Hash, Inc. December 13, 1994 10:12 PM
3ds support would be great in the future. Its becoming the standard 3d format on the PC. There is a toolkit available from autodesk on the format for about $200. Many 3ds users are looking for an organic modeler after the 3ds R4 disappointment, and Playmation would be an incredible…
#140468 #No Splines In R4? Message #140473
Can I get a copy of that email also.
#134714 #DXF importing Message #134829
I downloaded the dxf converter from this library and it works perfectly, taking less than a minute on even my largest models. I wish I had it earlier, it could have saved me a huge amount of time. For some reason 3dstudio must add a tremendous overhead. Thanks for the…
#133800 #DXF importing Message #134114
From: Rico C. Alexander Autodesk Multimedia Forum · IPAS Usage November 7, 1994 3:40 PM
What program allows you to export dxf files in binary format?
DXF importing Message #133664
From: Rico C. Alexander Autodesk Multimedia Forum · IPAS Usage November 5, 1994 2:10 AM
I was wondering why it takes so long to load dxf files. A 10000 vertex model took about eight hours to load. Is there anyway I can speed this up, and will a faster computer help.
#128574 Adobe Premiere Message #128624
Great Idea! Thanks.
#Adobe Premiere Message #128474
There seems to a problem with 3ds and Premiere. I rendered an animation as a series of Targa files with alpha channels, but when I tried to load them into Premiere, the program crashed, and gave me a general protection fault error. However when I opened the Targa files individually…
#Renderman Message #128303
I was wondering does 3d Studio vers. 3 support Renderman output, and if so, how can I get a copy of Renderman.
#calcomp digitizers Message #80715
3d studio doesn't recognize my digitizer when I go into the configuration window. What's wrong?
