Metaball IPAS Opinions Message #190802
From: MILNER-FENWICK Autodesk Multimedia Forum · IPAS Usage September 14, 1995 8:05 AM
I am trying to decide between Digimation's ORGANIX or Schrieber's MetaREYES. I have heard it through the grapevine that ORGANIX is a more flexible program. I have also heard that MetaREYES has some limitations when it comes to applying textures. Is this true? Any opinions? —Russ

Well, I posed the question and now I have some answers… According to Positron Publishing, MeshPaint 3D is being upgraded for 3DSmax. The cost of the upgrade should be about $50 or so. According to Schrieber Inst., MetaREYES is also supposed to be upgraded, but no pricing information is available…

There are two IPAS routines I am preparing to purchase, but I am concerned that if I purchase them and then upgrade to 3DSmax I will no longer be able to use them. Does anyone know if existing IPAS will work with 3DSmax or if upgrades might be offered??? Specifically…
I agree that Plum at NAB was vaporware, but I wouldn't count them out just yet. They could be bought by one of the big boys. If so, don't expect the same come on price that Plum was promoted at this NAB. Richard Milner Milner-Fenwick
I want to thank Tim, Kouros & Steve for your help. Your advise is appreciated. — Russell Barratt
We are looking for high-quality 3D Studio meshes of human figures (male and female) and internal organs to supplement our current library…can anybody recommend a reliable source for these?
I was at the Open DML press conference. The group lead by D/Vision and Matrox presented a white paper about what Open DML was going to achieve. It is designed to extend Windows 95 & NT to be more friendly to video. They are working on file structures, and data…
In future releases of Animator Studio, will it support Open DML (I know that this is a standard that is being developed even as you read this)? It would be a great addition to WIN32 3d Studio. Will you be attending the Open DML meeting at NAB?
When will release 5 scheduled for release? Will it be at NAB? Richard Milner Milner-Fenwick

Will Autodesk be at NAB? Specifically, will they be showing prototypes of 3d Studio working under Windows NT? Richard Milner Milner-Fenwick

Think the answer has been found. Simplified and the rewrote sections of my CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT. IPAS and 3DS both seem to run fine now. Thank you for your help…

I tested 3DS and the new IPAS modules on a different system. They seem to be working fine. I am not using PHAR LAP on either system. The system I am having trouble with is a Pentium 90 EISA/PCI (32 megs on motherboard, 2 gigs in the drive). The system…

First of all, thank you for your quick response. The mystery is not solved though. I have 1.9 gigs free space on my drive before entering 3DS. In addition to that, I have been running on the Low palette setting. What else might it be?
#3DS/IPAS Problems Message #110916
I am a 3DS R3 user and have had no problems with the software until adding IPAS #6 & #7. First off, any time I try to render an animation with a SKIN object, I get the error message "cannot create temporary file: C:\3DS3\TEMP\$FLIW1$.TMP" while it is Encoding 256-color image.…
