Have had the same problem. My controller GVP_II. The fix for me was issuing a 'GVPscsiCtrl 001 (my tanberg scsi addrress) DCOFF' command. The controller now recognizes the tape drive. The Worst That Is.. Is Better than the Best that Could Be.
