Price for NEC 83M from CDW is _without_ controller. I believe they sell the interface kit, which includes controller, driver software, cable and earphones, for $98. Gary Nickell
Someone told me that the NEC drives used a different caddy than the Sony, but I just received a NEC 83M (haven't installed it yet) and the caddy is exactly the same. Possibly older NEC's used a different caddy? Gary Nickell
I also purchased a 83M drive and only indication was a small round yellow sticker with an "M" on it. NEC Tech support confirmed that this is all they are doing to designate new M series until existing case supplies are exhausted. Gary Nickell
