Gayle,
The 00000004 guru is "68000 Trap – Illegal Instruction". You might want to
pick up the program in the libs that gives you the guru interpretations.
(can't recall the filename offhand.) I keep it in my C: directory. I just
typed the command "guru 00000004" at my shell to get the above information.
You're probably correct about the cause being that you were low on memory.
The funny characters look like VT100 or ANSI escape sequences. Somehow,
you must have the host system set to treat your terminal in that manner.
(i.e, your host settings and your terminal emulator settings need to
match.)
