Steve, sweedack… I've been a Borland fan and turbo user on many systems
over the years but they're starting, like microsoft, to put on some of the
weight that comes with success (no innuendo intended Phillipe). With such
weight comes lots of marketing inertia. 100K, 200K, maye even 500K AMIs
might just not be enough to nudge them our way. Frankly its a nice language
system, and nice to be running right there with all the "real programmers"
using and blabbing Turbo. But this constant awaiting of Sanctification of
our machine and its market is getting to be a drag… so what if
Ashton_tate isn't planning a port of DB3, why hang around slavering about
WordPerfect for AMI and Turbo for same when adequate to excellent
alternatives now abound in the AMI sw mkt. The original AMI Pascal was a
dog but the Pecan UCSD system looks very nice indeed and the TDI modula is
super. Both good alternatives available now from good companies with the
chutzpah to jump in to the AMI market before it goes platinum… I say we
should be supporting such folks, not begging scraps from the big-blue
table. -da-
