Ben, your points on making an Amiga laptop are well taken; where I disagree is only with your contention that a portable Amiga has to have a battery. By eliminating a battery, you'd save $50. -$100. in manufacturing costs. The Amiga tends to be a multimedia machine; what you you do if you had a battery? Show off a dynamite presentation to the person sitting next to you on an airplane? My thought is to design the unit minus the chips and let the dealer figure out where to get them. Places such as The Grapevine Group have no problems getting chips from Commodore. Using the Amaxx approach, I can't see why a fairly reasonable priced Amiga laptop could not be made? The big question is, "Who'd want to buy one?". From all indications, the Amiga is dying in this country… Sorry, but that's my opinion. I don't care how many people are productively using them, far too many people who used to recommend Amigas (and I helped influence 3 other people to buy one) cannot do so anymore due to the popularity of MS-DOS… – via Whap!
