Jeff,
While the ROMs and disks can be purchased from dealers (via the
upgrade kits)…they may not legally be used in anything except an Amiga
computer produced by Commodore.
IF the only way to get a product to perform its intended task (in
this case, for the phantom laptop to run)…then it's illegal to produce
that product. Thus this mysterious clone company isn't even allowed to
produce it. And even if they somehow or other got around that
problem…the certainly couldn't tell folks how to install Commodore ROMs
and software on their machines…because that'd clearly be a violation.
Thus…it's a non-issue until someone can get the courts to rule
that companies can't produce hardware (chips) and/or software licenses that
limit their use to "company machines" only.
