hard disk validation
Well, unless someone else has a better idea, I'd suggest trying two things.
A — Boot up, and then leave the machine alone for an hour. Sometimes
these things "fix" themselves, but take time.
B — if that doesn't work, backup everything on the disk/partition that you
can read from it, reformat totally, and then put it back on.
