Worse yet, when a company does bad, the workers get laid off -er excuse me,
the politically correct term is the companies get downsized- but that
drives the stock price up. Managers get bonuses ( most of their
compensation is bonuses) based on stock performance, not company
performance. So, they artifically drive the stock up by dropping workers,
pick up thier bonuses but the company just gets weaker. Go figure.
American companies reward the short term stock performance instead of long
term company/product performance – and they aint necessarily correlated.
