Thanks for setting me, and anyone else that was misinformed, straight
about the status of the Mac and PC version. I thought one or the
other was out in some form, again, because of conversations on CI$
plus it received an award for product of the year from Video Review
magazine.
Don't get me wrong. It doesn't matter to me if PC and Mac users want
to spend a couple grand more for a "Toaster System" than they would
for an Amiga & Toaster plug-in card. If they have the money to throw
away that's their business. If they want to walk away from a
computer that suits their needs because of the name then they DESERVE
to pay more for their ignorance. I think you are wrong to compare
that NewTek is doing with the Toaster with the clone market. The IBM
clone market is saying, "We may SAY we are XYZ Computer but it's
really an IBM in there AND we are several times cheaper!" NewTek is
repackaging the Amiga and selling it for MORE money. This isn't what
the IBM clone market is doing at all.
I think you misunderstand me. In my heart I may wish that NewTek would say
that everyone that wants to use a Toaster must buy an Amiga but I can't
blame them for trying to expand their market. If I were NewTek, I'd
probably do the same thing. They don't go out of their way to say the
Toaster System is an Amiga but they don't go out of their way to deny it
either when asked directly.
