Maybe it's time for Amiga developers to add the "SFRI" to their programs.
–> Standard File Requester Interface
MInd you this would NOT be the ADOS 2.0 FR (which should also be available,
and even the default for all software) but a means for the user to "drop
in" a library and have the application open that library FIRST, before it
tried for the asl.library.
That way, the user can set up whatever requester he wants.
Now, I know that you can sort of do this now, for instance Khalid has
admirably blown the ADOS 2.0 requester out of my system (thank you very
much, Khalid, btw) but you can't do it WELL. What do I mean by that? Well,
for instance you can't use PS macros now can you? I can think of lot of
other things that aren't very flexible, either.
Maybe Larry and a few other knotheads like myself should get together and
define such an external standard. Wouldn't hurt anything to have it, and it
sure would make many users happier.
Larry, what do you say?
Wanna knock our heads together on this over a period of time, whip up an
interface and then distribute it? Maybe drag in Khalid and anyone else who
is willing to participate? And tyr REAL hard to avoid the committee-itis
that these efforts usually suffer from?
