Julia – Yes, it can send ASCII. You might have to play with the character delay and line delay setting to get it to work right depending on the destination (some BBSs seem to have small buffers or something and I've had characters get lost until I put in longer delay times on my end). The only problems I've had with BackTalk are that it hangs on some PC BBSs when they're sending ASCII characters greater than 128 (not all the time, just sometimes – the kind of problems I _really_ like 8^( ), and after double-clicking on a phone book entry, the dial string is sent to the screen but (apparently) not to the modem as since it doesn't dial – if I hit Redial from the menu it works. Other than that, I haven't had any major problems. I use it for ZModem downloads since JR-Comm on my system has trouble since I went to WB2.04. Hope this helps … Harry
