#Hard Drive *GRONK*
Well, I've done it this time. My 210-meg Quantum has been flaky from the
start, and my Trumpcard controller is garbage, just like the support I got
from them (someone may flame about that, but I'm just telling it like it
is). Now I've got real troubles. Yesterday, while doing a few moves and
renames of my Saturday Compuserve download haul, the drive suddenly went
*GRONK* and I got a read-error message. I got a write-error message a few
seconds later. I tried a reboot, and the drive is no longer DOS. I have
several weeks of stuff not backed up! (I know, I know) I've gotten drives
to recover from the brink of death before, but this one is really scary!
One of my next steps is to get a different drive controller — I'm really
unhappy with Trumpcard, but I'm frantically looking around for something
that can recover this stuff from my drive. Any suggestions?
