Hello Jeff and/or Craig (I assume you communicate with each other) – As for what brand of computer I have: the system name is "DC 486WB Writeback-Cache" using an Intel 486 33 MHz CPU. The DC486WB uses an OPTI chipset and a high-speed SRAM supplementary external cache. I vaguely understand what Caches and Shadow RAM are, and can only tell you what I see in my manual. The other question you had was about my disc drive: it runs with an IDE controller; it is a 120 MB Conner. While we're on the subject of the cache (mine is 64K), you may want to know what the relevant boot-up parameters are set for: External and Internal Cache memory are enabled, Video ROM Shadow (C000 and C800, both 16K) aer enabled. Adapter ROM Shadow, in 16K segments from C000 thru EC00, are disabled, System ROM Shadow F000, 64K is Enabled. Wait States for Read and Write memory and Cache Read and Write are set to 0. Video BIOS Area is set to Non-cacheable. BUT I'm willing to dig in to get it so if you can think of other things please say so. Thanks for your help. June
