Jonathan, I recently installed a Toshiba XM-3401B for a client, and I am highly impressed. The 3401 is MUCH faster than anything I have used before, and I had no difficulty getting it working with an UltraStor 24F SCSI host adapter, using UltraStor's SCSI CD-ROM driver software. The drive hasn't been in service very long, but from what I've seen so far, I don't know how you could do better. BTW, that host adapter was already driving the hard disk in the system, so the CD-ROM became the second device in the SCSI chain. That seems to work just fine. What package is being offered with the 3401? I am thinking of replacing my older CD-ROM with a 3401 and would like to get a deal on some disks along with the drive. Good luck with your search.
