And mahalo for asking for more info!
I'll get an info sheet out to you. (If you want to wait a month or
so, I could hand-carry it <g> — we're going to be out your direction
in April. My husband has some meetings, and I have a consulting job
at U of HI Manoa, and we're going to visit a friend in Kailua-Kona in
fact.)
The Colorado tape I mentioned is Mountain Systems' Colorado Jumbo (150
or 250) cartridge backup tape. The 250 model is probably preferable,
since it has larger capacity (250 MB, compressed with software that
comes with the drive.) I think you can get the 250 for about $250 –
$300 retail. Try looking in ComputerShopper, or any good computer
store should be able to get one for you. I think they have different
interfaces for different systems, but don't quote me. It's not SCSI,
as far as I know. The one I just had my engineer order works on the
PC floppy drive controller, but it's an internal model. If you
bought an external drive, you might ask for a SCSI interface to work
with your Macs. It's slow, but reasonably reliable. They are very
popular for backup systems. The low price helps.
