Yeah, I'm not too worried about the radiation dangers of the base.
(The pamphlet on toxic waste emissions that they send yearly to everyone
in the area does make me wonder though . . .)
Of course, it's looking like the Navy base (& a bunch of other bases in
the area) will be closed within a few years. (Maybe housing costs will
drop to where it would be feasible to buy a house in the area? Gosh, just
think, we'd only have to come up with $200K, not $300K.)
Were you stationed in Alameda, or just a civilian? I've been living on the
island for a few years now, & I kinda like the area (sure beats
Sunnyvale!).
