The laser is the quality of BetaSP, which is 'way above hi-8 and really
required for broadcast work. Sony has two models, retailing at $21,000 and
at $16,000, approx. If you are going to pay $8,000 for a hi-8 setup, you're
halfway there for the 'little' laser.
Add the speed differences in the format, never dropping a frame, and the
easy rotoscoping, if you could, go for it! You'll never be sorry!
