#MAC FLI Player?
John,
Thanks for the info. For your information, it seems that deBabelizer is the
perfect application for a current project at the Royal Ontario Museum. We are
developing a mac based interactive application which allows visitors to explore
the optical properties of gemstones, including the sparkle of diamond, the
chatoyancy of Cat's Eyes and Star Sapphires, and the play of colour in Opals.
Visitors get the chance to change the properties of gems – the shape of a
brilliant cut diamond or the index of refraction of a diamond – and see the
effect on the light. We are using a variety of programs, ranging from 3D studio
to Prisms (probably) to Persistance of Vision to Renderman to produce the
animations. Then we are going to translate these sequences (and video sequences
of real gems) into full-frame full motion Quicktime movies. Using a RasterOps
MxTV board with the QuickTime accelerator, visitors will have a change to play
with gems and see why they do what they do. Debabylizer – it hasen't arrived
yet – should be the perfect translator for the project.
Thanks again for the tip. I look forward to using it.
(Are you sure you don't work for Equilibrium ?!?!? 🙂
