#ADVICE: VR work ?
really happy to have found this forum. I've known about AutoDesk for a while
but didnt know about its VR development (duh !). I just got a copy of Ken
Pimentel & Kevin Teixeira'a "Virtual Reality – Through the New Looking Glass"
book. Thought I would start my VR learning process with that. I am a software
consultant, MS Windows and OOP with C/C++/C++Views. My experience is with
scientific apps mostly and also telecom, simulation, biomedical, laser doppler
measurement instrumentation control, data acq & more. This is all PC-based. I
was wondering if anyone could tell me where a good place would be to send a
resume – I would really like to do some work in software dev for VR
applications. I think one of my problems is that I live on the East coast & as
usual, it seems all the "hot" VR dev companies are in CA or elsewhere out
West…I am particularly interested in VR apps as they relate to medical
applications. I keep thinking back to my growing up days when i was so
flabbergasted by the Star Trek episode with Captn Pike (forget the name) and
its kind of coming back to me now everytime they step into the Holodeck in the
new series…I'm beginning to think we may just achieve this marvel in my
lifetime (I'm 27, any hope ? 🙂 ) Well – thanks for any advice you can
provide.
