Ellen, you don't have to send it back. In fact even if you do exchange it there is no guarentee that the new one will work better. What controller card are you using? Was this part of a kit? Where did you buy it and what did they call it? It is far more likely that you installed it incorrectly than the drive having a problem. What version of DOS are you using? Are you using a high memory manager? Which one? What other cards are in your system? As your system boots a series of driver names will appear. You can press the pause button to stop the display and the space bar to resume. Write down the names and version numbers of the drivers that are displayed. I would also be a good idea to include a copy of your CONFIG.SYS file in the message you post.
