I am an aspiring entrant in the CD-ROM publishing business who is evaluating the market potential for a CD-ROM product that would be a complilation of 3-5 related print sources onto a disc. I have reviwed most of the relevant files in the forum library on the publishing process. I have com to the realization that I will never have the technical expertise to create the product and will have to rely on the numerous vendors and consultants to provide technical & manufacturing assistance. I am looking for the best sources of non-technical information on: 1. CD-ROM Publishing for Novices 2. Data Acquisition 3. Marketing of CD-ROMs The questions I have center on: * How receptive are print publishers to having their data incorporated into CD-ROM products? * How are such deal structured? (Exclusive vs. Nonexclusive, Royalty percentages etc…) * What is the best way to approch print publishers? * General marketing strategies for CD-ROM? (Distribution, Pricing, Advertising etc…) The bibliography put out by OPA lists books such as: "Publish Yourself on CD-ROM" "The CD-ROM Handbook" "Apple CD-ROM Handbook" "Guide to CD-ROM" Which of these books would best answer my questions concerning the startup of a CD-ROM publishing business? Help on finding any other sources would be greatly appreciated. I would also like to exchange ideas and suggestions with any other aspiring publishers. Thanx Derek Kirk
