Larry, the fact that AmigaDOS is _different_ from MS-DOS does not automatically make it _inferior_. I, for one, like the device names; the looooonng, descriptive filenames; the file comments; the ASSIGN command that makes installing most any software on your hard disk a one-line addition to the startup-sequence. It also makes stuff portable: I have an IMAGINE: assign mapped to one of my directories. If I copy an Imagine project onto a floppy and give it to a friend, all he has to do is assign IMAGINE: to wherever he copied the files and presto. I cringe at those cryptic 8-character filenames and directory names on the PC. "BeerCompany.imp/24bit.pix/BeerBottleBowling.anim" is certainly more informative, especially when combined with a file comment that says "client wants timing tightened". Your situation is no worse than that of countless folks using multiple machines. I use MS-DOS on the PC, TACL on Tandem, AOS on Data General and AmigaDOS at home. I can appreciate each system's advantages and faults. It just takes an open mind. Blaq! – via Whap!
