#3D Job Opening…
To all:
NY-based Educational Publishing company, currently developing curricular
material for schools, is looking for 3D modelers/modeling group. I'm the
Director of Technology and need good 3D'ers.
This is a two tier offer.
1) Current needs are for good modelers that can match the style of 3D we're
looking for and can work off of 2D sketches. Quick turnaround is a must.
Platform is (almost) unimportant. If you use SGI, PC, Mac, Amiga, whatever, I
don't care. I'll want graphic images for display to the people upstairs to
help sell my pitch. I might also want the files on disk for conversion testing
(DXF, etc.) This would be paid by object or on the hour… let's talk.
If my pitch accepted, these models would be integrated into the following…
2) Immediate Future needs are open to a contract bid from full-fledged 3D
animation group. Animation will be opening to 12 to 36 Mac CD-ROMS (Quicktime)
as well as Video. Although animation on each ROM might run about 40 secs, we'd
like varients for each ROM, therefore extended total anim time to about 1.5
minutes. I might favor Mac based animators, only because contractually I'd
want the files and since I work at a Mac-ified job, I could render in-house.
But still, I'm open to the right bid.

The style I *AM* looking for is Pee-Wee's playhouse, primary colors, soft
edges. Texture mapping will be required. The style I am *NOT* looking for is
slick and corporate. This is aimed at children, not stuffed suits. If you're
the master of chrome and lens flare on flying logos, please reconsider
responding to this message. If you feel that typical 3D is too "hard-edged",
geek-oriented, and you're different, please respond!
By the way, I like slick 3D, it's just that for this job, it's not
preferred.
Since I'm NY based, I'll prefer neighbors, but I'm really open to anyone
for #1 above. #2 requires more contact and will have to satisfy more
professional demands. Upper-management is very fickle, and the job could last
for a few months. We'd agree on certain amount of revisions, and after that,
the clock is running.
