Kelly, I, too, tried this. I found that the only way you can shapshot a directory as show all is that the parent directory must be in show icon mode or the snapshot won't take. So, you must open the parent in Show Icon mode, then open the directory you want for Show All, then select View Text, then select Snapshot All. Note that you put the window into View Text mode. If you don't do that, then nothing will happen to snapshot the icons because the icons for files without icons use a fake icon which isn't actually there and, consequently, won't be snapshotted.
