In addition to Ed's and Tim's comments (and I agree that you shouldn't need a
ramdrive), I think that the field of Multimedia on the PC is largely populated
by Windows programs. The advantage is a more natural switching from one to
another.
As far as disadvantages, from looking at our Windows player, it seems in
general that you can get faster playback in a DOS environment. This would be a
big concern of mine.
